ANON(YMOUS)) is a modern adaptation of the Odyssey. The story centers around a young Hmong refugee named Anon who flees his war torn country and his journey to the United States. Along the way he struggles to find his personal and ethnic identity as well as his sense of home in an alien world. Set in modern times ANON(YMOUS) incorporates traditional Hmong music, images and references while still employing many of the same characters and situations first presented in the Odyssey. Anon’s story specifically speaks to the plight of a Hmong refugee in the United States but he becomes a sort of Everyman of the refugee experience and his journey speaks to anyone who has ever felt like an outsider. ANON(YMOUS) is a theatrically stunning piece of theatre that will delight the eyes, ears and heart.
“stunning…blisteringly contemporary.”
-St. Paul Pioneer Press
“a memorable journey with throttling energy…excitement and power.”
-Minneapolis Star Tribune
