The holidays are the time of year when people remember how much they appreciate their friends and family. In Chancellor Charles W. Sorensen's case, he remembers how much he appreciates his students and staff. The annual Chancellor's Holiday Reception will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 1 from 1:30-3 p.m. in the Crystal Ballroom in the Memorial Student Center.
The reception is very informal. People are encouraged to talk to each other and come and go as they please. According to Diane Ternes, a cook for the University Dining Service, refreshments will consist of "cookies, candies, punch, coffee, little sausages" and more.

As Chancellor Sorensen said, "[The reception is] simply a way to socialize, thank everyone and enjoy the holiday season." The chancellor expects around 400-500 people to attend and more are always welcome. The Chancellor's Holiday Reception has been held every year since Sorensen took over the position 21 years ago. The credit for its creation likely goes to the previous chancellor, Robert Swanson, who the library is named after and who led the campus from 1972 until 1988. The reception is free to attend and the $2,000 cost to put it on comes from the Chancellor's Foundation account.

"Everyone is welcome," said Sorensen.
All are encouraged to come down to the Crystal Ballroom on the first to enjoy free food, good conversation and appreciation.
