The University of Wisconsin-Stout men’s basketball team opened its season this past Monday, marking a “tip-off” to the season as well as a hopeful start. Marking his 10th year as coach, the Blue Devil’s leader Eddie Andrist has high hopes for his team this season.
The University of Wisconsin-Stout women’s basketball team started its season with a game against the NCAA Division II St. Cloud on Nov. 15 at Hallenbeck Hall. The team, which is known for its strong senior leadership going into this term, has been fighting through long practices and perfecting its techniques.
Pavel Datsyuk. Derek Boogaard. Trevor Aubrecht? For you hockey fans out there, those first two names should be familiar to you. Datsyuk is the reigning Lady Byng Memorial and Frank J. Selke trophy winner and was also a runner-up for the 2009 NHL MVP. Boogaard is the mammoth enforcer for the Minnesota Wild who delivers as many haymakers as Datsyuk does goals.

The University of Wisconsin-Stout hockey team hit the road and traveled to Duluth, Minn. to face the St. Scholastica Saints for a two-game stretch on Friday and Saturday last week. Coming off two wins in their previous two games, the Blue Devils were trying to keep the momentum and win some tough away games.
Kendall WadeThis six-foot tall defensive back is a business major. In his spare time, he enjoys playing football, participating in track and field, swimming, bowling and playing basketball. On Nov. 7, Wade helped propel the University of Wisconsin-Stout football team past the University of Wisconsin-Platteville in the Blue Devil’s final home game of the season.
FootballRecord: 8-2The University of Wisconsin-Stout football team ended its season on a high note. After losing two consecutive games on Oct. 10 and Oct. 17, the Blue Devils turned things around and created a four game winning streak. Although its record was better this season than it has been in the last nine years, it wasn’t good enough for UW-Stout to earn a berth to the National Collegiate Athletic Association Division III playoffs.
Throughout the 2009 football season, the Blue Devils have made play after play to put themselves into position to earn their first National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) tournament berth since the 2000 season. While they failed to earn that elusive berth, they were able to achieve multiple accomplishments that made this season the most successful one since the 2000 campaign.
