After we all had left last June, the first shovels dug out what soon will be a bigger Jarvis Hall. The new science wing will hold science classrooms as well as spaces for research, mathematics, statistics, and computer science department.
The old classroom wing will be destroyed, with 66,400 square feet being remodeled as well as a three-story addition. The heating, air conditioning, electrical and telecommunications systems in the building will also be renovated.
The construction project, totaling $43.2 million, will be completed in August of 2010.
The University of Wisconsin-Stout isn’t stopping at Jarvis. There are plans to renovate both the Memorial Student Center (MSC) and the Price Commons. Plans for the MSC hope to make the student organizations and other centers more visible to students. The renovation in the Price Commons will deal with the bottom floor only. The dining areas will be more accessible and easier for students to use, have larger lounge spaces, and updated decor.
